Buy one with POST /payments/agent-subscribe and a body of {"plan": "<pass>"}. The response returns an smk_live_ key once: store it, it is not shown again. Send your existing key in X-API-Key to put the pass on that key instead. A pass on top of an active subscription lifts the tier for its duration, then falls back automatically.

    04 · how to pay

The x402 flow, in four steps

    01
    Call it with no key
GET the endpoint without X-API-Key. You receive HTTP 402 with a Payment-Required header and a body whose accepts[] lists amount, network and payTo.
    02
    Sign the amount
EIP-3009 transferWithAuthorization on Base. The x402 client libraries do this, and no gas is spent by you.
    03
    Retry signed
Repeat the request with the payload in the x-payment header. The facilitator settles on-chain and the response is your data or your key.
    04
    Polling? Switch rails
A free key covers 100 requests a day at no cost, and a pass or subscription removes the limit. Pay per call to look around, not to run a schedule.
    1) keyless GET · 402
    curl -i https://stockmarketapi.ai/api/v1/companies/AAPL
    # HTTP/1.1 402 Payment Required
    # { "accepts": [{ "amount": "20000",
    # "network": "eip155:8453", "payTo": "0x..." }],
    #   "price_usd": 0.02 }
    2) signed retry · 200
    curl -i https://stockmarketapi.ai/api/v1/companies/AAPL \
      -H "x-payment: <signed-payment-header>"
    # HTTP/1.1 200 OK
    # { "ticker": "AAPL", "name": "Apple Inc.", ... }
    3) buy a pass or subscription · key returned once
    # discover the 402 (price + networks), then re-POST signed
    curl -X POST https://stockmarketapi.ai/payments/agent-subscribe \
      -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
      -H "x-payment: <signed-payment-header>" \
      -d '{"plan":"pass_1d"}'
    # plan: pass_1h | pass_1d | pass_7d | *_plus | monthly | monthly_plus | yearly | yearly_plus
    # { "api_key": "smk_live_..." } ← shown once, store it

The x-payment header is a signed EIP-3009 transferWithAuthorization payload, not something you build by hand. The x402 client libraries (npm and PyPI) produce it from a wallet key. Per-request responses carry Cache-Control: private, no-store. Passes and subscriptions return an smk_live_ key once; per-request payments do not return a key at all.

Polling on a schedule? Use a key instead.

A free key serves every endpoint on this page at no cost, up to 100 requests a day. Past that, Pro at $19/month removes the daily limit: at the cheapest per-request price ($0.01/call) the same money buys 1,900 calls. x402 and USDC payments settle on-chain and are final.

    FAQ

Do I need an API key to pay per request?
No. Per-request payments need no key: GET, receive a 402, sign, retry. Passes and subscriptions do return an smk_live_ key, once, because they grant standing access.
    Which networks are supported?
Base is recommended and gasless through the x402 facilitator. Ethereum and Solana are also supported for USDC settlement. Testnets are not accepted.
    Is a paid response cached?
No. Every per-request response carries Cache-Control: private, no-store, so it is never reused for a different payer.
What if I'm polling an endpoint regularly?
Use a key. A free key serves the same endpoints at no cost up to 100 requests a day; a pass or subscription removes the limit.
    Are x402 payments refundable?
No. x402 and USDC payments settle on-chain and are final.
    Where is the machine-readable version?
GET /api/v1/pricing returns the same tables as JSON, no key required. This page and that endpoint render from the same source, so they can never disagree.
