Terms of Service
1. The service
Stock Market API ("the service") provides company profiles, financial statements, metrics, filings, end-of-day and delayed prices, news and related reference data over a REST API, an MCP server and this website. By creating an API key, paying for a plan or using the service you agree to these terms.
2. Plans and licence
| Plan | Licence |
|---|---|
| Free | Non-commercial use: personal projects, evaluation, research and education. 100 requests per day. |
| Pro, Pro Plus, time passes and pay-per-request | Commercial use, as described in sections 3 and 4. |
| Enterprise | As agreed in writing, including redistribution of raw data where agreed. |
A licence applies to one organisation and the products it operates. It is not transferable.
3. What you may do with the data
On a paid plan you may:
- Fetch data centrally, store it in your own systems and serve it from there to your users, employees, clients and pilot or beta users, in hosted, internal or on-premise applications.
- Display prices, percentage movements, charts, financial statements, metrics and derived analytics in your product, including to invited or paying end users.
- Build models, signals, reports, research and AI-agent tooling on the data, and publish the results.
- Keep normalised observations, earlier revisions of corrected values and backups (section 5).
No attribution to the service is required. If you choose to credit the source, "Data: stockmarketapi.ai" is enough.
4. What you may not do
- Resell, sublicense or redistribute the raw data: bulk downloads, data files, or an API that passes our data through to third parties substantially as received. This needs an Enterprise agreement.
- Share one API key between organisations, or use the Free plan for a commercial product.
- Circumvent rate limits, scrape the website in place of the API, or use the service in a way that degrades it for others.
- Use the data in breach of any law, or present it as investment advice from us.
Displaying the data inside your own product to your own users is not redistribution.
5. Storing the data
There is no limit on how long you keep data you retrieved while subscribed, how many observations or superseded revisions you store, or how many backup copies you make. Encrypted off-site backups are fine. Data you hold remains subject to sections 3 and 4.
6. Ending a subscription
When a paid subscription ends and is not renewed:
- Serving stops. Within 30 days, stop serving data retrieved under the subscription to users, and delete it from your live systems.
- Backups. Backup copies may expire on your normal retention cycle, within 90 days at most, and must not be used to restore the data for use.
- Derived work survives. Models, reports, analytics and aggregates you built from the data are yours to keep.
- Your own records. Audit logs, revision history and provenance records that reference our data may be kept for compliance purposes.
Moving to the Free plan counts as the end of the paid subscription for data retrieved on it. We may end or suspend access for breach of these terms; where practical we will tell you first.
7. Data sources and accuracy
Data is collected from primary sources and third-party market-data providers, including regulatory filings (SEC EDGAR, ASX announcements), company reports and market-data feeds. Every record carries a source field so you can trace where it came from, and the API reports known data issues and completeness.
Prices are end-of-day or delayed, never real-time, and are adjusted as documented in the API reference. We correct historical values when a source restates them; earlier values remain visible as data issues where they differ. The service is provided "as is": we do not warrant that any value is accurate, complete or timely, and nothing in the service is investment advice.
8. Payments
- Subscriptions are billed in advance, monthly or yearly, by card or in USDC. Time passes and pay-per-request calls are paid in USDC at the time of use.
- Card subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled from the dashboard; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period. Crypto subscriptions and passes end at their stated time and do not renew.
- If a payment fails or is reversed, the plan's access ends and the key returns to the Free tier.
- Refunds are considered case by case; contact support within 14 days of a charge. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law.
- Prices are shown in USD, exclusive of any taxes you are required to pay.
9. API keys and fair use
You are responsible for keeping your API key secret and for all use made with it; rotate it from the dashboard if it is exposed. Paid plans have no daily request cap, but automated use that puts unusual load on the service may be rate-limited; we will contact you before restricting a paid key.
10. Liability
To the extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising from the service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We are not liable for trading or investment losses, lost profits, or indirect or consequential loss. Where the law implies guarantees that cannot be excluded, our liability for breach is limited to resupplying the service or refunding the amount paid for it.
11. Privacy
We store the email address, hashed password and hashed API key of an account, usage counts per key, payment records (card payments are processed by Stripe; we do not see card numbers) and the IP address a key or account was created from, for abuse prevention. We do not sell personal data. Email [email protected] to have an account and its data deleted.
12. Changes and contact
We may update these terms; material changes are announced in the API changelog and take effect 14 days after posting. Continued use after that is acceptance. These terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia.
