Stock market data infrastructure
Stock data freshness and update dates
Assess price sessions, filing dates, financial period ends, and snapshot observation times without assuming a universal refresh guarantee.
Documentation revised
Use a dataset-specific clock
For prices, inspect the latest bar or quote as_of and compare it with the relevant exchange sessions. For financials, retain period_end and filed_date: a recent storage update does not mean a newly published period. For reports, distinguish filing_date from report_date. These clocks answer different questions.
Delayed is not real-time
Quotes expose timing and delay metadata; daily history is not a real-time feed. Intraday availability is narrower and subject to collection and plan restrictions. A selected range anchors to stored data, so a nonempty series can still lag the latest expected session.
Measure before asserting
The snapshot observation time below records when coverage was inspected, not when all underlying datasets were refreshed. No fixed update SLA is established by this page. Define acceptable lag per dataset and exchange calendar, retain actual timestamps, and mark stale or unknown data explicitly in client output.
