Whitehaven Coal Limited is one of Australia's largest listed pure-play coal miners, producing metallurgical (coking) and thermal coal for export to customers in Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, India and Europe. Following the April 2024 acquisition of the Blackwater and Daunia metallurgical coal mines from the BHP Mitsubishi Alliance (BMA), Whitehaven operates six mines across the Gunnedah Basin in New South Wales and the Bowen Basin in Queensland, with the revenue mix now weighted towards metallurgical coal. It is listed on the ASX (WHC) and headquartered in Sydney.
