A common statement shape
The financials response exposes fields such as revenue, net_income, total_assets, total_liabilities, operating_cash_flow, and capital_expenditures. A common schema helps ingestion across companies while retaining nulls where a field is unavailable or not applicable. It does not make different accounting definitions identical.
Coverage follows the company and period
Available FY, half-year, and quarterly periods depend on the listing and source history. Funds do not follow the equity statement contract. Preserve currency and period identity before comparing records; never fill absent amounts with zero to make a table look complete.
Trace every transformation
Retain primary_source and the per-field sources map, and mark derived values in downstream storage. Inspect cash_flow_basis before aggregating quarters. Use document discovery when you need the issuer's original context or footnotes.
