Stock market data infrastructure
An AI agent's first stock data request
Build a small read-only agent workflow that discovers the API contract, resolves listing identity, and reports data availability with evidence.
Documentation revised
Discover the tool contract
Start with /llms.txt for the site index, /llms-full.txt for endpoint details, or /api/docs for the interactive schema. Use HTTPS requests with a server-held API key. Do not infer an MCP server or a tool's existence from a marketing description; these examples use the HTTP API.
Resolve one listing and inspect one dataset
Search /api/v1/companies/search?q=apple, then request the selected company with its exchange. Inspect returned identity and availability signals. Select one follow-up dataset and retain its dates and provenance in the tool result rather than asking a model to infer missing values.
GET /api/v1/companies/search?q=apple
GET /api/v1/companies/AAPL?exchange=NASDAQ
GET /api/v1/companies/AAPL/financials?exchange=NASDAQ&period_type=FY&limit=1
Header on authenticated requests: X-API-Key: <server-held key>
Return evidence and stop conditions
Report the requested dataset, actual latest period, currency, source metadata, and missing fields. Stop or ask the caller when access is denied or identity remains ambiguous. Set request and retry budgets. Key creation, completion jobs, and payments require a separate explicit action policy; a read task should not trigger them automatically.
